I'm reposting the following from an email Jay sent in case there's anyone else out there in Hentai-brau land who wants to participate: (comment if you need the address/directions)

Heya Everybody,

Happy Holidays, etc :)

Patty and I are going to be brewing some Hentaibrau Dark tomorrow (Sunday 12/27/2009) at my place.
The plan is to make 2 batches, as Dark seems pretty popular :)
This gives us an opportunity to see how the same recipe brewed with malt extract compares to brewing with all-grain.

Because of this ambitious plan, we're going to begin brewing at 11:00 AM.

Please let me know if you can make it.
Jay

Hey all,

Plans are in effect to bottle the Gift of the Magi Tripel and the Tropical Swim-suit episode brew... whatever they are.

When: Sunday December 20th
Starts at noon.

If there is a theme, it is spiced beers. I have two.

October 11th, 2009

Hey peeps,
Who's up for brewing on Sunday the 18th of October?

On deck:
1) King Solomon's Gold (aka Brew of the Magi) - frankincense, myrrh, and saffron old ale (maybe Majool dates?)
2) Perhaps Tropical Thunder (aka Swimsuit-Episode brau)? - coconut hefeweizen (complete with banana notes!)

Post up and we'll go ahead if enough people are available.

So two of the three hop plants (Pearl and Cassie) are secure in their new homes. Thanks be to Jamez and Satches. Our third plant, Wilma (willamette) is theoretically destined to live at Dave's new pad in the city. So, Dave, give me a call and we'll set this up! You'll even get a fine, new garden (with paving-stone edging) in the deal!

We'll build new supports for them next spring. Engineering-types report in April.

Hello all,
Per the request of multiple people, I have put together a fragrance perception training course based on the ones I set up at work. I am in the process of putting together a course for beer styles as well. I would like to have one fragrance panel group meeting tied to one beer-style meeting for each time we meet. The basic set-up will include four fragrances (along with a primer on scent for the first meeting) and a compare/contrast session with four beers from a particular style. To be truly successful, we would need to repeat this several times a week, but we'll see what we can get accomplished =)

What I need from you all:

1) We can handle about eight people maximum per session - so a sign-up sheet will be required.
2) We need everyone to be available for roughly four hours continuously (1.5 hours for smell and 2.5 hours for tasting). We can not start until everyone is present. One of the goals is actually to think as a team - as communist as that sounds.
3) We need to agree on a day. Ideally, we should meet early as our noses and taste buds will be most sensitive before lunch. I understand if this is not possible though =) Please reply letting me know your preferences!
4) A willingness to forego wearing perfume, eating spicy foods, or smoking several hours before training.

Which weekend is best for people? 1) Sept 5/6, 2) Sept 12/13, Sept 19/20 or Sept 26/27
After we choose a day, we'll put up a sign-up sheet.

Thanks much all!

So we need to set up a "cheers and jeers" section.

Dark Horse Brewing gets a definite jeer for using glue on their labels that is utterly impervious to the ravages of all known oxidizing agents... hell, I even tried mixing bleach with the sodium percarbonate. It looked promising with all of the vigorous bubbling, but alas, the glue remains!

Boo Dark Horse!

Actually, I am thinking of doing a side-by-side comparison of the various cleansing options using their bottles as the test subject. I can get a hold of sodium hydroxide, which should do the job (seeing as it can destroy flesh) and see what it can do against the commercial stuff, OxyClean, bleach, dishwashing detergent, etc.

Hmm... should be fun.
=)
Oh, and btw... bottling on Sunday. I think there may be Inebriati filming as well. Let's start around noon. Further discussion of upcoming brews possible, but no brewing per se. Reply if you need address or digits.

It looks like Dogfish Head is making more beers ala Midas Touch, one of them over 9000 years old.
